Mariusz Tarkawian was born in 1983 in Łuków, Poland. In 2009 he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Maria Curie- Skłodowska University in Lublin.
Tarkawian is a graphic artist, whose pencil works have reporter character and photographic precision – usually, it is a large drawing with hundreds of similar or related elements (“159 Works from MoMA’s Collection”, or particular series consisting even of hundreds of postcard size drawings (“In Anticipation of Art”). In 2009 he received distinguished Kaissering scholarship in Goslar, Germany and also he took a part in Bergen Assembly Triennale (2013, Norway), Dionysia Art Residency in Thingeyri (2011, Iceland), Supermarket – international artist-run art fair in Stockholm (2011, Sweden) and Manifesta 8 – The European Biennial of Contemporary Art in Murcia & Cartagena (2010, Spain). Currently, Mariusz Tarkawian works and lives in Warsaw, Poland.
