Like a Rolling Stone 2 /

The motto of the exhibit Like a Rolling Stone was adapted from the English proverb “A rolling stone gathers no moss.” The works of the 28 artists shown at the exhibit form a collage of narrative in which the medium named in the title appears in various contexts, scenes and interpretations. The artists analyze its various aspects, evading banal and obvious conclusions, however. “A Rolling Stone,” for some, becomes the moving axis of the earth, the one constant in the face of the changing run of history, a metaphysical expression of existence, and for others – a methaphor of transience, a tool of rebellion, a pretext for the spinning of personal stories, for conceptual, artistic jokes, or for experiments with stone itself as a medium.

The exhibition Like a Rolling Stone is a project taking place as part of the exhibition cycle under the common title Festival of Art. Every year, the festival is dedicated to a different artists’ material and around it is created the concept of the exhibit. In 2009 – after paper, metal and wood – the material chosen to be the guiding motif became stone.
