Oh, it's all right now / Gruppa

In the year of 30th anniversary of the creation of the most famous Polish artistic group of the ’80 Galeria Propaganda presented an exhibition titled “Oh, it’s all right now” featuring never before shown collaborative works on paper. United by their opposition against system, practice of anti-art, anarchistic radicalism, but yet antagonized by character, individualism and artistic attitude six members of Gruppa - Ryszard Grzyb, Pawel Kowalewski, Jaroslaw Modzelewski, Wlodzimierz Pawlak, Marek Sobczyk, Ryszard Wozniak - shaped the history of the art of the ’80 and built ground for cultural shift that was brought by year 1989. They all knew that only work in Gruppa, with Gruppa and for Gruppa could matter but when they opened their first exhibition 30 years ago their tremendous success was unforeseeable. Today we did not talk about them differently, as "legendary Gruppa". The sense of community that bounded them together at events called “closures” at Dziekanka Gallery in Warsaw was still apparent in the magazine “Oh, it’s all right now” and found its fulfillment in their group participation in Kassel Documenta in 1987. Each of them was an individualist, but often created in pairs or in groups, some works have dedicated to each other.

For this exhibition, we chose several works that show their interconnecting relationships. Despite the fact that they didn't avoid clashes, these works testified to the phenomenon of Gruppa.
