One photo, so many faces /
A commemorative photograph from April 1919 presented the 101 US Artillery Regiment - the farewell picture just before demobilization. Probably each of the soldiers received a copy to show it proudly after coming back home. Although it represented more than 700 faces, each siluete was sharp, each button-sized portrait was recognizable, though uniforms and forage caps unify. Still, all remained anonymous.
Having this photo on my wall for past twenty years I try deeper and deeper recognize the personality and individuality of each face....
